Local Council Award Scheme

The Local Council Award Scheme (LCAS) recognises and celebrates the achievements of local councils in improving and developing to meet their full potential. It provides a framework for councils to demonstrate they meet industry standards, supported by peer assessments. The scheme offers three award levels: Foundation, Quality, and Quality Gold, each requiring councils to showcase good governance, community engagement, and continuous improvement. The scheme also aids councils in planning and implementing improvements, enhancing their national reputation.

Star Council Awards

The National Association of Local Councils (NALC) has opened nominations for the Star Council Awards 2024, which celebrate the outstanding contributions of local councils, councillors, young councillors, clerks, and county associations in England. The awards feature categories such as Council of the Year, Councillor of the Year, Young Councillor of the Year, County Association of the Year, Clerk of the Year, and a newly introduced Climate Response of the Year. This new category highlights councils' proactive efforts in addressing climate change through long-term strategies and community engagement, aiming to inspire others towards sustainability.

Winners are recognised for their exemplary service delivery, community engagement, and innovative approaches. The awards will be presented at a parliamentary reception in the House of Lords.

The nomination period ends on 6 September 2024. Winners will be announced at a prestigious ceremony in the House of Lords, where they will receive their awards, recognising their remarkable contributions and inspiring others in the sector.
