Your Council's GAPTC Membership

At GAPTC, we specialise in town and parish council law and procedures, providing vital support to local councils. Membership grants access to a comprehensive suite of services designed to empower and support councils in serving their communities. Key benefits include expert advisory support, regular updates, downloadable model documents, comprehensive training programmes, a monthly newsletter, support through a buddy scheme and networking, customised training solutions, affiliation with NALC, and access to independent audit services.

Our members have benefited from our specialist advice and unwavering support, especially during challenging times like the Cost-of-Living and Climate and Biodiversity crises. Additionally, we offer unique initiatives that set us apart:

Monthly Networking Sessions: These sessions offer councillors and clerks opportunities to engage on hot topics, compliance, project initiatives, and more, leading to nationwide policy adoption and recognition.

Robust Communications Strategy: We ensure cohesive support for communities through effective communication with district and county councils, informing higher-level policy.

Mediation Services: Our CEO actively facilitates communication and mediation in councils experiencing challenges, ensuring stability and professionalism.

Website Redevelopment: A new website with a professional public-facing aspect and a robust member portal will launch mid-year, providing access to essential documents, policies, advice tickets, training, and toolkits.

Bespoke Training: Funded training will support councils in taking meaningful climate and biodiversity action on these pressing issues and on-site Code of Conduct training actively works to ensure councils communicate effectively.

Membership fees are calculated annually based on each council's electorate, and include a NALC component. Fees are invoiced in March, with discounts available for councils achieving the Local Council Award Scheme (LCAS) or employing a permanent qualified clerk. Members receive a Service Level Agreement outlining the terms of our partnership and the support from GAPTC and NALC.

Membership also allows councils to participate in our Annual General Meeting (AGM), where representatives can engage in discussions, propose motions, and contribute to shaping GAPTC’s future direction.
