Our First Council HUB Meets

We are excited to announce that our first Council HUB, the West Forest Council Clerks Group (WFCCG), has met, marking an important step in improving communication and collaboration among members.

On 22 November, clerks from 8 of 11 councils in the western area of the  Forest of Dean came together to share their experiences, discuss common challenges, and establish goals for their group. Led by Richard Crighton, their newly appointed coordinator, the group set out aims including mentoring new clerks, providing locum services, and acting as a collective voice to engage with local authorities.

The meeting sparked productive conversations about audit preparation, hybrid meetings, and communication tools. The group also agreed to set up a WhatsApp network to share updates quickly and easily.

We’re inspired by the energy and ideas from this first meeting and look forward to seeing how this HUB develops. Their next meeting is scheduled for February 2025, and we encourage other areas to consider forming their own HUBs to strengthen our collective voice.

We are looking forward to engaging with this HUB to address their concerns around the revised Internal Audit Service and our guiding responses to the government’s consultation on Remote/Hybrid Meetings and Proxy Voting.
