Larger Councils Quarterly Forum

We continue to focus attention on the unique needs of our largest councils, those with electorates over 7,000, offering tailored support to their more complex needs.

For our second meeting of the Forum, we have invited Roger Consultant from Wellers Law Group to talk to the clerks and councillors from our largest member councils about Asset transfers. This is particularly topical as we approach a changing governance landscape in Gloucestershire that will see a shift in the delivery of services to communities.

Roger will share insights on:

  • Voluntary Transfers

  • Transfers as a result of a Governance Review

  • Automatic Transfers

  • Actions that a local Council should take

  • Actions that a local Council should consider carefully before taking

  • Understanding the consequences of action or inaction

  • Methods of transfer

Wellers is one of the only law firms in England and Wales to provide legal services to town and parish councils. They also have an excellent working relationship with NALC and work to compliment the services provides by NALC and county associations.

Why attend:

  • Gain a clear understanding of how forthcoming governance changes could impact the ownership and management of local assets, ensuring your council is ready to assume new responsibilities with confidence.

  • Learn about the legal processes and implications of asset transfers during and after LGR, including potential risks and safeguards for your council.

  • Explore proactive steps your council can take to securing community assets and maintaining local control over valued services and facilities.
